Mr Tim Goodacre specialises in cosmetic surgery. Procedures which he performs include nose (rhinoplasty), scar revision, breast augmentation (enlargement), breast reduction, liposuction and blepharoplasty (eyelids). His speciality area of cleft lip and palate surgery has given him great expertise in procedures of the face, lips and nose.
Training and background
Mr Tim Goodacre is a fully accredited plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He has been in full time practice as a consultant for nearly 27 years. Following his initial qualification at St Thomas’ Hospital, London, he trained in plastic surgery at Mount Vernon Hospital, Northwood and Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton. Mr Goodacre spent two years at a mission hospital in East Africa, performing general and plastic reconstructive surgical work. He joined Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust in 1991. Mr Goodacre has recently ceased his NHS practice but continues to work in private practice and as an expert witness. He has particular interests in children plastic surgery, and cosmetic surgery to noses and facial areas as well as general plastic surgical procedures.
Research and teaching
Mr Goodacre is Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in the Nuffield Department of Surgery, University of Oxford. He is also an immediate past examiner and assessor for the UK’s Intercollegiate Board in Plastic Surgery. His continuing research interests are in the psychology of early life and disfiguring conditions and in researching robust outcome measures for plastic surgery. Mr Goodacre is part of the Oxtex group that is developing his original idea for a self-inflating tissue expansion device for use in reconstructive surgery.
British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) and Craniofacial Society of Great Britain. Mr Goodacre was President of BAPRAS in 2011, Chair of their Professional Standards Committee from 2012-2015 and currently represents BAPRAS on the Council of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is also the Vice President of the European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS).
