Mr Chris Lewis specialises in hernia repair, laparoscopic cholecystectomy (keyhole gall bladder removal), reflux disease, dyspepsia (indigestion), swallowing disorders and general surgery.

Training and background

Mr Chris Lewis graduated from Manchester University in 1997. He trained mainly in the North West but spent a year of early surgical training in Australia and undertook a Fellowship in Emergency and Trauma surgery as a senior trainee in New Zealand.

He is interested in all aspects of upper gastro-intestinal disease, especially gastro-oesophageal reflux and oesophageal dysmotility, surgery for which is predominantly performed laparoscopically (keyhole surgery). Mr Lewis has a keen interest in abdominal wall hernias, especially when due to previous surgery (incisional).

Research and teaching

Mr Lewis enjoys teaching and surgical training, and is active in both local and regional training programmes as well as having an interest in research and academic surgery.
