Mr Robert Marshall is a Consultant General Surgeon at The Foscote Private Hospital.
He qualified from St Thomas Hospital, London in 1988. His surgical training took place in the South East Thames region and higher Upper Gastrointestinal training at Guys Hospital in London. Mr Marshall carried out two years research into gastro-oesophageal reflux disease at Guy’s gaining his MS in 1999.
Research articles generated during this time included those published in the British Journal of Surgery and the European Journal of Gastroenterology.
Procedures undertaken by Mr Marshall at The Foscote Private Hospital include open and laparoscopic hernia surgery, as well as upper endoscopic diagnostics.
In 2001, Mr Marshall was appointed clinical lead for upper gastrointestinal surgery at Oxford University Hospitals.
Currently he is one of three upper GI surgeons in Oxford providing a regional service for the surgery of oesophageal and gastric cancer taking patients from Milton Keynes, Swindon, High Wycombe and Aylesbury.
His team carries out at least 100 major cancer resections per year.
Mr Marshall carries out at least 75 laparoscopic cholecystectomies and 100 hernia repairs per year.
