Mr James Owen is one of The Foscote Private Hospital’s consultant orthopaedic surgeons. At The Foscote Private Hospital he performs: knee surgery; ligament reconstruction; hip and knee joint replacement; unicompartmental and total knee replacement; hip resurfacing; sports orthopaedics and foot surgery.
He qualified from Cambridge University in 1992, when he then trained at many hospitals across the UK, including Cambridge, Norwich, Nottingham, Reading, Oxford and Derby.
Internationally, Mr Owen has worked in the trauma unit at the Washington Hospital Centre in the USA. He also completed a year’s fellowship in 2003 in Brisbane, Australia.
Mr Owen has been a specialist knee consultant for the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust since 2004.
Over nearly 20 years he has built an extensive knowledge of knee surgery and he undertakes a range of knee replacement techniques.
Other surgery of the knee that he carries out includes ACL (arthroscopic ligament reconstruction), meniscal and cartilage repair, patella realignment and stabilisation and corrective osteotomy.
In addition, Mr Owen has vast experience in minimally invasive hip replacement surgery and corrective big toe surgery.
